A simple definition of high availability and disaster recovery:
Don’t confuse high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR), or expect a DR solution to meet your availabililty needs. Put simply, high availability is about PREVENTING downtime and disasters, while disaster recovery is RECOVERING FROM PROBLEMS once they occur. Disaster recovery solutions are designed to help you recover from true disasters (floods, fires), not minor problems (network card failure, storage corruption).

Was watching Aleksandr doing his stuff again last night when it struck me – I think he needs some everRun high availability software from his fans at 24/7 Uptime. Then he won’t need to beat up his computer – or Sergei. Simples!
Take a look at his latest bloopers here – love the ‘wardrobe malfunction’ and helium balloon parts …..

I’m learning more about the CRC legislation that comes into effect next year and it’s sounding like a rather expensive undertaking for business so far. From what I can gather, and in very simple terms, organisations within the scope of this legislation will initially need to buy allowances (emission credits) from the Government at a cost of £12/tonne of CO2 produced.
