The Sunday Times Green List 2009
The Sunday Times Green List 2009, published at the end of May, is their annual competition to identify companies that are trying to improve their environmental performance – and it is very interesting to see exactly who is involved.
There’s a wide spread of industry sectors involved – but if you take the time to read some of the company profiles, the business benefits are clear. Yes, they are reducing their CO2 emissions dramatically. But they are also saving money (despite making some initial investments), improving employee morale and teamwork (because they have a common cause) and, in some cases, helping charities at the same time. This isn’t just a peripheral activity for them – it’s clearly at the heart of their business and there are some real big boys involved.
‘Greening’ information technology is one of the lower impact activities (compared to air transport and supermarkets for instance) but it still adds up and makes a difference. In fact, many of the companies involved felt it was the combination of small changes that made the biggest difference.

It goes without saying that we are doing our best to be a green company too. But if you think 24/7 Uptime can play a part in getting your business included in the Sunday Times Green List for 2010, please do let us know……..
