Technology and environmental summits galore
We’ve been attending back to back technology events, seminars and summits all with a common theme. Call it what you will – Green IT, environmental issues, reducing emissions, ozone damage, energy and the economy, the carbon crunch (a term I particularly chuckled at) - the evidence we have seen is that business at least seems to be getting its act together to try and reduce the effect of global warming.
This week we were at Envirenergy North West at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium, along with lots of delegates representing companies across all sectors and of all sizes. There are some fantastic products and services around that help measure and reduce elements that damage our fragile environment, and these events are, on the whole, free of charge to attend. It’s great that so many are taking part, learning the facts, and taking action – but it’s definitely not enough. The message has been loud and clear from speakers, sponsors and delegates alike, and will get stronger and stronger. If we are to have a planet worth living in for the next generation, never mind future ones, every individual, every company, every organisation needs to be environmentally responsible in all aspects of activity and life.
There is so much help and information available, we should all be making positive steps to reducing our carbon emissions. Turning off lights, turning off PCs, recycling, re-using waste, using less paper etc - all easy to implement, simple and self funding.
At 24/7 Uptime, sure we provide IT solutions that can help cut costs and emissions, but we’re also doing our little bit in our business and private lives. It’s plain common sense and pays for itself – we simply want to encourage everyone else to do the same.
Let us know what you are doing to reduce emissions and save money – it makes complete sense in every conceivable way.
