HOW IT WORKS
Let’s assume Company A currently runs 10 servers, each running 10
systems (email, database, intranet, web, etc, etc)
Stage 1: we reduce the number
of servers from 10 to 2 or 3 (depending on data size, processing
requirements, etc)
Stage 2: we set up 'server
virtualisation' – which means the software (or applications) do not
just ‘live’ on a single server any more; they run in a virtual place
shared among the 2 or 3 resulting servers.
Stage 3: we use high
availability software to get the resulting
2 or 3 servers working together as a single unit – sharing
