Greater Manchester based 24/7 Uptime has joined The Prince's May Day
Network - the UK's largest group of businesses committed to taking
action on climate change.
Created in 2007 at the request of HRH The Prince of Wales, the
Network helps companies realise the business benefits from taking
action: as a result, more than 1,170 organisations of all sizes and from
all sectors across the UK have signed up so far. The third May Day
Summit demonstrated that taking action can deliver crucial cost savings
to businesses.
Tracy Barlow, Marketing Director, explains why 24/7 Uptime committed
to becoming involved with the Network: "the aims of the Network are
a perfect fit with the green IT solutions we provide. Simply put,
if a business has 4 or more servers then we can help them to reduce the
number of servers they need but ensure their systems stay up and
running, no matter what. Because they are using fewer servers,
they can reduce their energy costs, their air conditioning costs, their
maintenance and support costs and reduce their CO2 emissions - so
becoming a greener and more environmentally friendly company as a
result. With Carbon Reduction Commitment legislation coming into
force in April 2010, large businesses will have little choice but to get
involved. Our green IT solutions can help them invest in their
future but without spending a fortune."
